Opinion on 72 tii

I found a classified for a 72 tii that said the interior had been sold. Here is what the guy said:

The car was running several years ago when it came into my yard. Lost interest--you know the story...... The car would make a great donor car or complete restoration is advised.

The car is reasonably complete other than the interior. It has only 40,000 miles on it and somewhere I have the original owner's log book of refuelling and what-not---boring. The floor needs serious attention. The car ought to be worth $1000.00 because it is a tii meaning mechanical fuel injection. Many of the parts are exclusive to the ti and command serious money. If you are up to a project and appreciate a vintage winning rally car this 2002tii may be a candidate for you, thanks,

Would this make a decent project car or is it a disaster?

^^ IMO.. id rather spend the money on a running 02.. its not worth putting money into a car that need 'serious' attention too. if your a member of the BMW club (trillium) there was a guy selling a roundie last year and he was autocrossing it. I think he was selling it for 2k in running condition.

Start running

Train wreck.

No interior, sitting for a couple of years not running, rust and rot everywhere. Go find yourself the best one you can find. You'll still wind up spending a small fortune fixing all the problems.

Vintage rally winner, now that's funny man.

OK, thanks for the advice.

Where are good spots to look for them, aside from kijiji/craigslist?

I was a member of trillium but not anymore. Do they have some classifieds I can see?

Well

Usually in the spring you'll find a couple in the Autotrader.

For example there's this little number. Not for that price mind you but if keep looking I bet one will turn up.

IMO.. get one from the states... preferably states that dont have salt in their air or roads. you can get them imported/federalized and on the road for a cheaper price than you would for purchasing one from here and then fixing it up.. just a thought.

Mike's 914s (Porsche shop) in Colborne had an exceptionally solid roundie for sale, '72 I believe, running for pretty cheap... his number is (905) 355-2703.

Talk to Mike, not Kurt...
