Oil Grades?

Does anyone know the difference in the oil grades and when is the best time to use the different grade. A friend of mine gave me some oil and I want to make sure I use the right stuff.

Agip - 5W40
Mobil1 Syn - 15W50
Mobil1 Syn - 0W40

What should I use when?

I'm not an expert but I'd say you can use the 5W40 or 0W40 year round.
Use the 15W50 in the summer months.

My owners manual has a chart that shows the grades of oil and the max & min temps to use it in. Check ur manual to see if you have this too.

But yeah, lower grade for winter, higher (thicker) grade for summer.

I use 5W30 in the winter and 15W50 in the summer.... Mobil Synthetic
