Ireland Engineering 3.1L Stroker

Does any one have this http://store.nexternal.com/shared/St...t=products.asp

i planned on swapping the m50b25 from my 325i into my e30 325iS but, I did some calculations on the parts I need for this and it came upto 7g's just from ireland engineering heres the list of what i'd be getting

I wanna know what I'd get more power out of the M20B25 or the M50B25, i know i'd get more out of a S50/S52, but whats the point when I already have both engines available, because I'm going to be boosting it either way later.

Just would like some feed back before i start pulling shit lol

Thanks

Oh yeah 10 motor mounts was a mistake lol

What? 7gs to swap in the motor(which you already have)??

Madness!

It can be done for way way cheaper, even more cheaper if you tackle it yourself.

um thats just the parts go through the parts list i have posted and you'll see what adds upto 7 g's this motor will be close to 400hp if not over 400HP by the time the engine has been rebuilt it will have all forged internals and i'm looking to get anywhere between 8:1 to 9.5:1 compression ratio

oversized valves
272 billet cam
larger fuel injectors
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
computer chip
shorty headers
new SS cat back system
racing clutch
light weight aluminum flywheel
front 25mm and rear 22mm adjustable sway bar set
front and rear strut braces
Larger aluminum rad

and that doesn't include:
coil overs
custom paint colour (Barra Grey used on the Lamborghini Reventon)
all the body work (lead welded)
CF hood and trunk
custom interior (black with Barra Grey inserts or close to it leather seats black and white BMW emblems in the head rests)
acid dip the shell
rims and tires
and whatever other little stuff I have yet to discover
and possibly sparco EVO 3 racing seats (all depends how much I get for my e90 when i sell it)

and everything will be done by me except for getting the engine block machined
and going powder coat alot of the parts

You have no idea what the m20 motor is all about. There is NO WAY to get 400HP out of a M20 without boost. You crack me up with that 'adding up parts' thinking... You would be the king to even crack 300HP Normally Aspirated.

I have pretty much what you listed for motor upgrades, and I would be ecstatic if I cracked 220 crank hp.

Even a M50 motor, you'd be hard pressed to crack 300~350HP.

Keep dreamin' buddy

The most i've seen from a naturally aspirated M50/M52 is around 280 BHp. The only way you can anywhere in excess of that is with F/I.

Why so low? If you're staying NA, u'll want a higher CR then that...

as for spending $7k on an M20.... DON'T DO IT! You're wasting u'r money.

Just add up all the claimed HP gain stickers for the parts on each motor, nice. I love that approach.

and I theres no HP stickers anywhere I was just guessing on the HP considering they say you can out perfrom a e36 m3 which has about what?
280HP? so I then figured well it will probably be around 270 considering the e30 is lighter than the e36, then a cam maybe 20 would bring it upto 290, then headers and 3" exhaust maybe 25? 315, larger fuel injectors maybe 5 -10hp? 320HP -325HP? then turbo maybe 60-80hp? then that brings it to about 380-385HP - 400-405HP?, like I dont know BMW engines all the well I'm have done alot of american engine builds, such as an LS3 I've been working on with my buddy for with 5.0L Mustang, you spit on that motor and it brings it up 60HP.

I have never got into anything foreign before and thats why I came here and WAS ASKING and some people just like to be asses, but thats fine with me, I know they are probably waiting here all day looking for a reaction. Thats the thing that bugs me about this forum is people come looking for help and ask questions and people have to rip into them.

And I didn't add the 3.1L stroker Kit because i Figured that people could read the title. And if you have everything that i have listed CRAZ AZN, then I guess you have wasted 7 grand if you have EVERYTHING i have listed

The M20 is no 5.0L mustang engine -where a new intake manifold will double it's output. If you are prepared to spend $7k just sell your M50, throw out the M20, and have an S52 put in.

M3 motor (S52) is a 3.2L, dual over head cam, 24 valve motor and produces 240 Hp. Your 325 (M20) is a 2.5L single over head cam, 12 valve motor producing 175 Hp. Considering its almost 20 years old, that's pretty darn good for a 2.5L.

The M50 Motor that you have products 185 Hp out of a 2.5L DOHC and 24 Valve motor.

Getting 100 more HP (ca. 280) is about the maximum you can get out of the 2.5L and that's a lot of $$$ (more then 7k).

Your best bet is to leave the motor stock, and just put on a good quality turbo kit or better yet, invest the money in suspension upgrades and HPDE's

Considering i have built a 580HP 351 Cleavlanmd engine with my dad for his 1970 Mach1, and i've built a 5.0L Mustang engine for my old drag car, and yet helped on another one for my friends 5.0L and helping build his LS3 engine i know considerably amount on building an engine... and whats the "basics" mean to you?
and people on here with "seniority" and "knowledge" that consider swapping an "i" head on to an eta engine is considered building a stroker. have alot more knowledge then me on engines considering its NOT stroker engine, because you are NOT changing the STROKE of then engine.

But yet again i am a dreamer

uhhh you mentioned headers + turbo together?

its funny how much of a n00b you are just "addng" the horsepower together. Don't forget K&N filter that gives you another 5 hp!

n00b

i bet you've never even touched a car

edit: if you know so much? How many rotor's does the stroker kit need?
