Arrow E34 wheels on E36?

I need something cleared up.

I understand the wheel bolt pattern, width and diameter, but what does ET mean? I assume offset refers to how far the wheels stick out from the hubs.

From what I've seen, the E34 and E36 use the same 5 x 120 bolt pattern, but the ET is different.

Is there anything that should be stopping me from using E34 wheels on my '96 328i? I'm just looking for E34 16's probably.

Might be a , but I looked and didn't find a straight answer.

Thanks!

For the record, the E34 wheels will work with skinny tires (205).
