18 inch ultraleggera stagger set for 650 buck

guys,

i found these on ebay:

they are half the price of tirerack for the staggered set, question is will they fit my 93 325is. when i select them on tirerack the size they give me is:

18X8 with a 40mm offset and 18X9 with a 40mm offset

the set on ebay is

18X8 with a 34mm offset and 18X9 with a 34mm offset

will those fit? i would like to take the deal if they do

alternatively i could get some wheel spacers which should work, right?

i'm not sure about the fitment, but i'd consider other wheels first

They will fit fine without spacers. Don't go wider than 225/40/18 though (even in the back).

i actually looked again, the 18X9 for the rear are the same offset as tirerack suggested (40mm) on tirerack they recommend 245/35-18 for the back which i would like. are you objections based on fit or something else? 225 in the front sounds right

The 34mm offset will make 245's a headache on an E36. But you're more than welcome to try, just roll the crap outta the fenders and make sure you have a stiff suspension.

actually the rear 18X9's have the same offset as the set from tirerack (40mm) my car is only 1.5 inches lower on an eibach suspension.

i dunno, do the guys from tirerack go wrong usually or is it a whole different scenario even with only a 1.5 inch drop.

Oh shit, I see what you mean now. Yeah you can run 245/35/18, just a minor fender roll in the rear.

ok, let me understand something, tirerack recommends 225/40/18 on the front for the 18X8 and 245/35/18 in the rear. if i read this correctly that would make the total diameter of the whole wheel plus tire bigger in the front then in the rear?

from other forums and article i gather that 235's will still fit fine on the 18X8, so i am thinking i can put 235/35/18 front and 245/35/18 in the back.

The radius will only have .1 of an inch difference...

225/40/18 means, the sidewall is 40% of 225mm,
245/35/18 means that the sidewall is 35% of 245mm

The number by itself doens't explain anything, this is a common misconception among a lot of people.

What Mani said, the 35 and 40 are ratios, not fixed measurements.

Alright. With price as a fairly low priority, you have plenty of excellent options (well maybe, check Tirerack to see if they are available in your sizes).

Goodyear F1 GS-D3

All of these tires are the cream of the crop, and you will be very happy with any of them. Since you put handling as of utmost importance take a strong look at the AD07 and RE-01R, they are the most capable for HARD driving.
