all 9400 laptops i've seen with crappier screens, slower graphic cards, and slower cpus go for 800.
if the battery becomes an issue, call dell, they'll send a replacement.
let me repeat about the warranty. if something seems wrong, dell will send a replacement part. if the laptop is dropped, they will fix it. it kind of throws your "discontinued" comment out the door. the warranty alone was around $350.
