It's not just the ratio that sucks on this car, but its the fact that steering boxes will never be as precise as steering racks in any 3 Series And no, I won't even try to attempt to put a rack in this car. Some people do it, but I don't know how well it would work as far as geometry goes. I know I don't know enough about it, so I'll stay with the stock setup because I know it works properly.

+1. I doubt I'll ever go to Cayuga with this car. Not interested in putting on a muffler just to satisfy a few yahoos at that track.

Probably not. Gotta fix a few things before I can hit the track again. I will try to shoot for having it back out mid-June.

Ya man, don't know how I missed it! Have to admit I haven't read all 40 pages, but it looks like a cool project!

Yeeee, MOAR POWWWAAAA

Actually... What pushed me over the edge was looking for an oil filter housing from an S14. I had no idea that stuff had jumped over 300% of its value from just a few years ago... so the cost for JUST the oil cooler system ended up being more expensive than an entire engine swap! Considering I just want to drive the damn car this year, the cheapest route is the best route (for now).

I initially took the carb junk off for a fuel injection setup from an 84-85 318, in anticipation of the using the intake manifold as a base for the Turbo setup which is now currently on hold.

For the time being, I'm going to leave it stock. I just want to drive!!!

Hmm... true! If I end up doing this swap, I'll have two cars with engine swaps from other chassis'! Damn, never thought I'd see that coming! Good part is, at least its from the same manufacturer... I haven't sold out to the popular LSx swap club yet

^^ Thanks buddy!

Got some progress to report on! I'll let the pictures do the talking. I'm hoping to have the motor set in as well with the transmission by the end of the weekend.

Bye bye!

Funny, I remember a pic of the motor sitting in this exact spot in... maybe '09? Damn, that was a long time ago.

Wheeeeeeeee!!!!

Uh ohh... Header and steering having an argument! This wouldn't be the only thing having an argument.... Turns out underneath the transmission bellhousing, flywheel, and oil pan have a bit of an issue clearing the steering linkage. This swap is NOT as easy as the internet seems to make it sound. Oh well, gotta keep on rolling with it!

I guess the motor doesn't look too bad in the engine bay! I'm starting to like it!

Time for mounts! Fabbed this thing up tonight, gonna test fit it tomorrow and let the engine off the chain and see how it sits on its own weight! More progress over the weekend (hopefully!)

The engine is in and sitting on its own! Had to cut the shit out of the bellhousing and oil pan to clear the steering though with the way the engine mounts located the engine. I started on the exhaust header this evening, but I'll have to finish it up tomorrow evening...

Passenger side engine mount, need to trim the base plate a bit, looks a bit bulky.

Started on the exhaust. Cut # 1 and 4 runners off, and cut the collector of # 2 and 3 to fix the flange into a spot where it would clear the steering linkage.

Naaaice. Faacking pic, somehow decided to turn 90* on its side. But you get the idea, it points out where it should

One collector done! One to go!

Rolled the car outside to take a break. Engine seems to sit nice! I like how its a few inches back from where the M10 sat. Very pleased.
