Is it possible to install RWD engine on a AWD E90?

I have a 2008 BMW 335xi 3.0L AWD Auto and engine is toasted.
I found a used engine but it is RWD.
According to the seller all it needs to be done is replace the oil pan from old engine and put it on RWD one.
Is it possible?
Also, according to him it doesn't matter if the engine was taken off from an auto or manual transmission.
Not sure if he is trying to pull a sale or legit.

The engine itself, yes (aside from the oil pan as mentioned). There are a few ancilliaries that may need changing depending on the source and recipient vehicles, such as the flywheel/flexdisc, some of the electronics, the harness, etc.

Not ALL the time, they are two types of cranks (7 vs 8 bolt if I remember) and unless it comes with the proper flywheel it will obviously not interchange...Figuring what is in which car is next to impossible.
