I think it probably requires some backend dev / updating to get that working.

There have been some new features on forum platforms such as Tagging and notifications which are pretty cool, but it requires a bit of work to implement. Julian or Bruce would know more. Probably a chicken and egg scenario, you want more traffic to justify upgrades, but you probably won't get more traffic unless you to do the upgrades.

Really? I would have guessed it's just a couple simple settings in the forum code or admin settings, right now post editing is allowed for a set amount of time, just need to find out how to change that time limit to unlimited.

I've been around the interwebs since the days of 14.4k modems. Just recently got my first social media (FB) account. Thought everyone must have gone somewhere. What a step back in evolution. FB is great for instant communication / organizing meets but ends up being a continuous steam of unfiltered thoughts. Doesn't seem like the same crowd from the forums.

The beauty of forums is the ability to look at only what I'm interested in (E30 forum, classifieds, etc). This forum and others have helped me with maintenance, upgrades, and an engine swap. It would not have been possible to find that on social media sites.

I don't think I can add more to what's been said... completely agree with the aforementioned thoughts.

I'm really disappointed to hear about how the cost-cutting is affecting BMW... even what should be marquee cars like the M2. Reviews I've seen really haven't mentioned those things.

Thing is it is mostly younger people that tend to pick facebook groups and forums over classic forums. Most of friends my age as even a guy from DSRLeasing who is owning his own facebook page prefers forums as it much easier to find topics, discuss and so on. Facebook is made for instant messages between friends not really to put up big discussion with loads of strangers.

I still check in every so often but the forums are definitely not what they used to be. I feel Fil's comment is pretty much bang on. Looking to get in to the auto industry myself and have actually avoided most BMW dealers due to the massive saturation of their lineup. I don't even know what to make of half the vehicles they make now they are as far from what their roots were as they can be. Then again, I guess most cars are moving away from the pure driving aspect and more towards as much technology they can cram in it as possible which kinda sucks...
