From webster:
Lean - to incline, deviate, or bend from a vertical position
Rich - having abundant possessions and especially material wealth
Stoich - couldn't locate it...

for slang? no idea

it all has to do with fuel and air mixture in your carbs
all you need is to make sure that you are running stoich
rich is to much fuel
and lean is to much air

Stoich is the air fuel mixture which should be 14.7:1 (air particles existing per single fuel molecule).
This number is bascially where fuel econmy is optimized.

Running rich can keep the cylinder temperatures down and power can be gained if running slightly richer than Stoich; you don't want to run EXTREMELY rich but just the right amount for power optimization

Running too lean may result in denotation, this means more heat in the engine and with the higher temperatures (from denoting) it can cause the mixtures to pre-ignite.
