New 5 series (E60) has no LED Tails Con't.

So yeah, I posted earlier asking why E60's don't have LED taillights, and someone posted that it has adaptive taillights. But tonight I drove behind this E60 from bloor to like yorkmills along bayview, and I didn't see no adaptive taillights! What's the deal?

they're there, I saw 'em. The LED's will only come on during HARD BRAKING / EMERGENCY BRAKING. Regular braking will only up the intensity of the regular brake lights.

Apparently it's to offer that extra split second of reaction time to the person behind the car.

Are the signals leds?

There is one always parked where i was 545i, its swweeet. The tires are crazy, they are directional and left and right.

The thred pattern is pretty sick, the inside is different than the outer part

no, the turn signals are not LED.

Some info about the tail lights I posted before for the E60

"Brake Force Display enlarges the brake light area when the driver brakes sharply. When the driver applies the brakes hard, or upon activation of the ABS, the rear taillights join the brakelights at the same intensity to warn the vehicles behind that hard braking is taking place. This technology uses Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology and offers an extra split second for the driver behind to react to heavy braking ahead. "

read about the other innovative features (including Adaptive Headlights) of the E60 here: http://www.bmwworld.com/models/e60.htm

gamite you are welcome to see mine.
justin is right, the adaptive ligthts only come on during hard braking/emergency as a further warning to the vehicle behind.
as for the LED turn lights, there are 2 parts. the regular turn signal is not LED, but at the front side where the headlight assembly ends at the turn signal indicators (underneath the eye-brows), there is a row of LEDs for decorative purpose when the xenons are on.
T-dot i agree with the 545 run flats looks real sexy, especially the sick thread pattern on them.
