Listen to Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood - DMX

This album although has a few songs that talk about hoes/bitches, but there is a lot of depth to it as well.

Slippin' - Talks about how his life got in the situation it did, and how hes gotta change because he doesn't want his son to go through it.

Ready to meet him - How his faith in God has slipped, and how he comes to realization that continuing to believe in God is what he needs to do.

Plus other songs that talk about people who he thought were friends, who stabbed him in the back, how he's there for his dogs. This kind of message is more positive, especially to young people. I admire DMX for making a record that talk about real life issues, that have depth. Sure there are songs of his that go off on a tangent.

Even Biggie, talks about how his life was shit, how people told him he'd never amount to anything, but made something of himself. Sure he doesn't "respect" women, but his approach to his lyrics are a lot more respectable.

Now like I said, its all opinion. Im not saying their great role models, but this is the kinda rap/hip-hop that I personally listen to.

To tell you the truth, I dont listen to much hip hop/rap much anymore, because of this.

I listen to System of a Down, Chili Peppers, and bands of the sort, as well as Euro and Trance (TI ES TO) mostly.

I am open to most types of music, including Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti, etc. Listening to one type of music would get boring, I enjoy a little of everything, but was merely discussing my thoughts on this necra character.

While I agree with Ital_325i's views on rappers focusing on rims, money, bitches... I don't believe it is a fair generalization. The same thing is found in all other forms of media and most other forms of music. Not only this, but it has been happening for years now. Tupac, Biggie, and DMX included. Necro exhibitions his insanity in his music... it's his niche. However, there are certain rappers that don't follow this vibe... as one person mentioned, Sage Francis as an example. A more known, and commercialized example, would be Eminem... he's never puts serious focus on 'bling'.. though some would argue his lyrics are still a far cry from socially acceptable. Feel free to give conscious hip hop another chance. Outkast, KRS ONE, Common, Mos Def, Black Eyed Peas, Hi Tek, Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, Mr Lif, Talib Kewli, amongst others is a place to start. RHCP does kick ass too though... it's good to be well rounded.
