On 330i, Remove "plate" to get to LCABs???

I set up to change the LCABs on my friend's '03 330i but he's concerned
because he saw in his Bentley manual that in order to remove that front end reinforcement plate that covers the LCABs (my E36 doesn't have that), you need to support the engine, etc etc... or that could throw something off...
Is that true? That seems excessive...

Is it possible to get to the LCABs without touching that darn plate??

I've done the job on my E36 and most write ups I've seen were good for both E36 and E46 and I've never seen that plate mentioned at all!

I'd appreciate if you guys could direct me on hoe to deal with that plate.

We're doing the work at 6:30 tonight.

Thanks guys
