HTPC recommendations?

Anybody build one recently?

I just got a Harmony 880 Universal Remote, and it's sick, so now I wanna use it with Media Center.

I'm pretty set on getting the following, unless there's something out there that's better that I haven't seen yet.

1. D-Vine MCE601 case:

2. BTC 9019URF Wireless RF keyboard:

3. BenQ DW1655 Lightscribe DVD-RW/CDRW48X48X32
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=BENQ

Another major choice here is the PVR card, Hauppauuge cards good?

As far as the rest is concerned, I'm not sure whether to go high-end, low-end, or even go with 1-2yr old used parts off ebay, I've been told that to get good recordings, I'll need some decent hardware. What have you guys gone with? What do you guys recommend?

I would only buy a Hauppauuge, or something using the ATI Theater 550 chipset. I have a 250, works great, i've only used it with regular cable. Looking to do FTA soon.

The new ATi 550 series cards are OK. I would use WD SATA drives since they seem to be quiter than Seagates. Don't forget to install a diskfragmenter.

Instead of RF controlled KB can't yut get BT ones?

Also what kind of display are you planning on using?

Will you be installing Win MCE or Linux ?

i got 2 hauppauge cards in my current pvr, a 150 and a 250. and can only recommend them. and with the hauppauge cards u do not need a high end comp. mine is running on a P4 1.7ghz , and compared to the vcr i was using before it's a huge improvement.

if ur hooking the HTPC to a big screen tv and plan to play some newer games on the big tv u might wanna go with a better CPU and video card. Ati cards have a better video output then nvidia, so if ur only planning to watch movies also a small thing to consider.

how much is that keyboard and whats the range on it? i think i'll prolly go with that logitech mx500 ( i think it was) . 30ft range over Bluetooth

diskfragmenter.
what's diskfragmenter?

Bluetooth Keyboard's are pretty expensive, the RF keyboard I'm looking at is $54: http://search.ncix.com/displayproduc...anufacture=BTC

I'm connecting it to my 51" Sony TV, KP51WS500. It has a DVI input, so I plan on connecting via the DVI output on a video card, not sure which one yet.

hmmm. thinking of the HAUPPAUGE WIN TV PVR 500, http://search.ncix.com/displayproduc...ture=HAUPPAUGE

wondering if i should get a HDTV capable card...

not really planning on playing games on my TV, so maybe I can go with some 1-2 year old used hardware off ebay...
