a) thats a waste of perfectly good oil. there's nothing wrong with oil if it's been in the crankcase for 7 months.

b) if your really MUST do that, why dont you use the crappiest cheapest oil you can buy to put in the car before you store it?

not sure of the reason. i think BMW canada does not support that oil. its probably some business bullshit, but they just don't. call a dealership an ask.

i've been told this by reputable sources, so i'm not 100% sure, but about 99%

probably because BMW is in bed with castrol...

^Just like MB is in bed with Mobil 1, i'm no expert but I've been running Mobil 1 0w-40 & 5W-30 for over 170,000km, my engine runs just as smooth as all the 05's & 06's E46's in our family. Factory fill AMG & Porsche oil seems to be working great!

In all honesty, I'll probably try Lubri-Moly 5w-40 once my inventory of Mobil1 is done (summer), I'm yet to hear one bad thing about Lubri-Moly.
