im sure it had a d-series..........how did the engine sound? it was probably a beat to sh*t d16!

h22 and jdm b16 sound kind of the same at idle because of the DOHC, while d-series is way less aggressive!

i want to see your 318 keep up to my beater

H22 would definately smoke ur 318.....b16a would keep up with it and a b16b,u would have to keep up with it. It was probably a b16 cause my bro has that in his car and he just keeps up with my 318......

my f22b (SOHC non-vtec) can keep up with a 318 which is why I find it extremely hard to believe he had a h22 hatch.

Before I swapped the M motor, I gave it to a Ek with a B16, TypeR Cams, Exhaust, suspension... I Must have given him like 3 full length school buses. Might have been more then a quarter mile and we must have raced a good 2 or 3 times. Last time we pulled up to a red light and he started going on about how i must have been boosted because stock motors are like this yada yada yada. So whatever I let him stay convinced that I was running 6psi just so he would go home happy.
lol

I think 318i m42/44 in E36 is very slow. I would not even race it.

I've seen friends line up an E36 318is and an EK B16. Wasn't even close, the Civic pulled away easily.

H22 hatch = M3 territory.

my two Prelude's I've owned, one was stock, one was modded, were actually a huge difference. There's no way man that your 318 could take his H22A period. My modded Prelude with the H22A took G35 + TL sedans, neck and neck with a 330, and even kept up with a modded 06 WRX. My Lude was heavy, and those Civics weigh nothing, so trust me, it would've been able to pull you very hard if he was trying.. it probably wasn't an H22A. Maybe H22B (without the VTEC), but I don't see that either.
