damage investigation

very curious, if its possible to find out what type of damage was reported on a vehicle Im looking to purchase.

I found a 335is and it has a Undercarriage Insurance claim when it was at 10k, vehicle now how 123k. is it worth purchasing something with a $14k claim?

Is there a way i can find out what was done to it (more or less)?

Personally, as long as its nothing that was fixed, and was replaced for new part, i wouldn't be concerned about it... just want to make sure I know what Im getting myself into.

Unless you know which bodyshop did the work and ask them to check their records, there's no other way.

The best case scenario would be to hoist it and check. $10k in undercarriage could be anything from underpanels or a subframe, oil pan, etc. Who knows. Could hopped a curb or hit road debris. Tough call.

yeah, thats what I was thinking... hitting a curb would probably cost somewhere around $2-4k alone, if rims were bent and shocks/control arms damaged.. when dealing through insurance, garages usually jack up rices 2 folds.

considering its been 110k since that incident, I recon its been dealt with, but like you mentioned, in future, without explanation this may turn people away from buying it off me.

had the car up on a lift and doesn't show anything out of ordinary... no bends, or scratches. the main under cover is slightly broken, but considering this is a big plastic brittle piece, its fair to say it could have happened at any time.
Overall, no signs of major damage or any damage for that matter

Did you remove the underpanels to see what it looks like underneath?

no other damage or issues... all dry other than those 2 places.

Unfortunately before I finally decided, someone bough it lol
