Who likes big computer screens?

Alienware is working on a prototype curved widescreen display due out sometime in the second half of 2008.

Here's a pic, running Crysis at 2880 x 900 resolution.

pretty wide, and the resolution is kinda low.

I was planning on getting a 24", but since I've been shopping around, 24" LCD's look so small now, I decided on getting a 30"-32" anybody got hook-ups?

An alternative that is actually on the market is the Radius320.

I just picked up a 20" widescreen, and it's the same height as my two other 17"s.

I figured a 20" widescreen would be taller.

When the screen gets wider, the distance between the two opposite corners gets larger..... I would expect a 17" LCD to be as tall as a 20" widescreen. A 22" might be taller.

Yeah, found that out after I opened the box. The height is a minimal difference.

1280x1024 vs. 1680x1050

But no complaints here. Now I just have to find time to hook up both 17s and the 20" wide for a surround view.

It depends if u buy a Wide Screen LCD or not. 22 inch wide screens would be your standard height but wider :o
the alien ware monitor looks better then the rio one thouhg. but yes i do agree that the resolution is ok on the alien ware one considering the standard is 1900 by 1200. still looks decentt hough.

that radius 320 monitor is just three monitors stuck together, and they're not curved.

Correct... that's what makes this one so interesting. The Alienware screen is perfectly curved.

With that Radius one, you can clearly see the seperation between the 3 screen components. Supposedly the new Alienware has 3 faint lines dividing the 4 subpanels used, but it's not clearly noticable. This one is also DLP with LED illimination, and not LCD. Still a while off, so it can only get better.

Nah, it just black-borders the left and right, and displays normally.

Unless you're watching widescreen porno.
