I hear that the whole rise in the dollar is gonna be terrible for the Canadian economy... imports/exports...

i am already very happy with the exchange now. if 1 to 1 i'll be buying stuff like nuts from the states!
on the other hand this is not good news, it will affect our export and in turn slow our economy and start a chain reaction for the down turn, and it might settle at an equilibrium lower than we have now.
i too gets paid at times in US $, i dont want to see my checks drop in value by so much. the difference between our economy and theirs is too great so the chance of at par happening is extremely slim.

For me this is great.

The reason being:

My family invests in real estate over seas where everything works in Euros, and right now its 1.55 CDN vs. 1.00 Euro.

So, if buying property, over there, its gonna be getting cheaper for me here and there, but I get paid in Euros over there for the rent, so I guess if you invest over seas, its good, but if you are here doing exports, you fokkkkeedd!
I got pissed with my bimmer, so I bought a Civic, never looked back!

it means that when it does drop to a 1 to 1 ratio, then they will go to either a US dollar across Can-Us- Mex, or come up with a euro type currency...

if not, buy a lot of USD $$$, then wait for it to drop... i think it will..

If it does go to $1+ then I'm selling everything I've got and I'm going on a extended vacation sailing around the world

Join up with a bud of mine who's doing it right now.
