11 550i xDrive Newbie

I have a 2011 550i xDrive MSport with around 175000km. Lots of history with the local stealership but I think my timing chain has gone. I was not driving it, someone else was so it was towed into a BMW specialist and they said, maybe the chain. The engine will turn left and right but not far and clunks$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
My question, at long last, do I replace or repair or maybe sell it as is. Not sure the local mechanic is really interested in looking into it.Some engines in the US around $5000 a block in T.O. $1500. But a few US BMW dealers have rebuilt units for around $3000 plus core fee (1000)
What to do, what to do...........

Take it to a proper BMW specialist like one of the sponsors on this forum, not just any random mechanic. That's step one...
