'Smart' Armor Learns More With Every Bullet
State-of-the-art armor can evaluate its own condition and relay that information to soldiers in real time.

ya thats a little silly though. I can understand on a tank, you want to know if the exterior is cracked or not.

but on a human being, wtf is that going to do anyway? Conventional armor doesn't stop high powered rifles. Ceramic plates cannot take a direct hit, and if they are hit from an angle, they shatter. So its pretty easy to see the "state" of your armor. What you think its going to be like HALO where you sit back and let it recharge? lol.

according to what I read the army bought 130,000$ worth of vests to test it out and see if its suitable over a 3 day period. It failed the army's test.

The army didn't say why, but speculation is that if the "dragon" scales move at all the penetrative resistance falls to zero.

The army needs material that is resistant and mobile. It doesn't make "tank troopers" they gotta be able to move. If its true, and if by moving the scales the dragon skin becomes ineffective, then it is essentially useless especially given todays combat soldiers have to be able to move quick.

Another issue from what I read is that it is very heavy armor.. From what I also read important people usualy wear the dragon skin, but important people aren't hitting the deck running at full speed, or dodging bullets.

Lastly, not too many military casualties have been from bullets. Alot of them have been from IEDs.
