2011 E90 Sedan transmission issues

First time poster looking for some feedback from the community if someone has had a similar issue to the below.

I have a 2011 328 xDrive Sedan with 189k, automatic transmission, and for the last few months, the transmission up-shifts very rough when going from 2nd gear to 3rd gear.
The level of 'roughness' is directly proportional to the RPM at which the shift occurs, below 3000 rpm it's not very noticeable, above 3000 rpm it's much more pronounced.
With the windows open, sometimes I can also hear a loud 'squeak' at the same time as the rough up-shift.

In any of the other gears, 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 4th, etc.. there is no such behavior; it only happens when shifting up between 2nd and 3rd.

Any ideas?
The dealer wants $220 to diagnose in detail, but already warned me a possible transmission replacement could be required (at a cost which is probably more than the value of the car!)

You need new solenoids, and all the other goodies that go with the overhaul including a plastic fantastic bracket, sponge, pan ( filter built in), fluid and of coarse a mechatronic sleeve. Roughly $400-600 usd all in , no labor.

Research on youtube, very common problem. New transmission? doubt it.
