My buddy mentioned he knew someone with over 500K kms on his E36, and the same person was told by his brother in law that one of his clients has a 1980's Porsche 911 that just turned over 1 million kms; I believe it's going to be featured in an upcoming edition of Excellence magazine.
|
Two weeks after I mentioned the above, I was merging on the QEW highway in Oakville and I tucked in behind this slammed Porsche 930; dunno who it was but I suspected it may have been the car I stated above. Then a week later I get an email from Excellence magazine about the latest (April 2012) edition, and it turns out it's the same car! The article shows a picture of 610,524 MILES on the odometer---and the article was written in 2010, so it has more than that now. Mind you, the engine has been done a few times; not bad for a 35-year old, 1-owner car.

I sold my 92 318is about a month ago and when I sold it it has 432,000km on it. I'm in touch with the new owner car is running great and he plans on keeping it quite a while longer.

I met Bill and his 930 many years ago the story is an interesting one. Back then the car had like 750,000km and even that was OG madness. It was pretty thrashed but Neetronics was tuning it out trying to get 500whp. Not my thing staring at the same dash for so long but hey he loves his 930 and is a Porsche Legend now.

I remember that car when I was a kid, it had a set of old school gold BBS magnesium wheels on it at the time... I can't believe this thing is still kicking!

^ That is soo cool to see.
I wish I could have kept my e34 M5, I sold it with a tick over 400K on the very hard driven and slightly neglected(by 1st owner), never rebuilt S38B36 engine.
And everyone will tell you those engines need a rebuild and will barely make it past 200K.

I just picked up a '97 328 cabrio with 282,414 km on it.
Engine runs decent and I plan on keeping this thing around until it stops running.
We'll see how that goes
