Post looking for 325is specs

Hi

I am looking in to building a E30 325is race car. I have tried searching google for 325is specs but so far I have been unable to find any thing useful. If you have any factory specs on this car please post. I am looking for engine power output, dyno graph, weight, Weight distribution, any road test by popular magazines such as R&T C&D.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the info. now how hard is it to get this engine to push 200 hp without forced induction?

look at what jordan has done to his car and he's doing 220hp. he has some extra things done internally but i think if get a stroker motor in your car you should be close to 200.

you mean if I get a 2.7 block with a ported and polished head, header exhaust, shrick cam and stand alone fuel managment system I can put down over 200 hp?

Is the transmission and diff strong enough to handle the extra ower on race track?

Budget eta strokers with i heads really suck IMO. The limit for such builds is ~190hp or so when done on a budget with old OE parts like that.

Putting down 200hp at the wheels with a m20 would require ALOT of work and money.

Metric Mechanics sell a 3200 stroker. They claim 260+hp at the flywheel. They can build you one for a cool $10k USD.

Click on the link on my sig and read through all the pages and pictures...

Intial cost of the engine and drivetrain, plus labor to install often times can exceed 5-8,000 for a m50. 8-10,000 for a S50, and more for a OBDI S52.

People seem to be under the impression you can just buy some ragged out 200,000mi m50, drop it in the engine bay, and drive away. Truth be told this isn't the case. There are alot of little parts that need to be purchased, swapped out, or fabricated. Not to mention all the wiring that need be done. It all adds up, particularly when you aren't doing the work yourself.

What would I know though, I've only done several of these swaps in the last 6 months.

Hey Perjad, is that you? Glad to see you may actually be going through with the E30 idea, I know we talked about it for a bit at your shop last month. In case you don't remember I was the one who bought some ZE-512s and filters from you the last time I was there (Jay).

Hi
Yes this is Perjad. all this time I have been searching for an MKI Scirocco to build up but they are so hard to find. Slowly I am turning away from VW and moving toward BMW. 325 has many advantages over Scirocco and few disadvantages. LSD, rear wheel drive and 50/50 weight ratio are to die for on a race car. My only concerns are cost of modification and 325 1000 lb disadvantage over Scirocco.

Here you can get a low KM M50 from $1000 to $1500, and a reputable install is another $1500...so $3000 lets say $4K...Canadian, not USD...I dont think you can get 200hp M20's at that price. But what do i know.... as some people claim 240hp from Eta's with injectors and 4" exhaust....ROFL...
