Huh? There were always four exhaust tips, but they have covers on the bumper to make it look fancy.

yeah on the stock IS-F, but go to the 2:18 mark and you can see with this aftermarket exhaust, they made all 4 pipes be used.

http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/2...onspiracy.html

There been considerable hand wringing lately over the faux exhaust tips on the new Ferrari California. Such trickery seemed suspicious enough when it showed up on the Lexus IS-F, but on a Ferrari it's been deemed sacrilege.

Well, got some more bad news for you, the R8 is guilty too. It's less noticeable because the exhaust pipes are tucked away so neatly into the bodywork, but the photo doesn't lie, those tips are not connected.

meh, the original IS was supposed to become a BMW rival, it fell short so does this one, drove (nearly bought one) last fall, good car, but the Lexus pricing strategy is wierd, if they brought this car down market; they'd sell 'em by the boatload.

how'd you feel it handled? I recently drove the new E92 M3, what a car that was.
I've driven both, so I'm interested in how you compare the two.

If I needed to buy a car with an automatic, it would be an ISF for sure.

The 8 speed is the absolute best automatic i've ever driven. Lightning quick upshifts, it will automatically throttle blip on downshift, it will also let you downshift into 1st and it won't override you at redline or if you've forgot to downshift and your in the wrong gear.

The ISF is a much much nicer car than the BMW, especially when it comes to everyday comfort and amenities- which is an important factor in a sports sedan. The only thing that the Lexus doesn't have is BMW's driving dynamics...but it is 90-95% there. BMW has to beware of the next gen ISF.

^ I thought the handling was on par with the M3, add some anti-swaykit's in the front and rear, put some coilovers and sway bars on, and that IS-F would be a beast on the track (and it is one stock!). I liked the interior more too... I found the backseat pretty small though, just like the M3 and C63

Two very different cars, the Lexus is like a Panasonic microwave, effecient, numb, borring, bland, does what its supposed to; but it has no soul .

E92 M3, I've only driven the sedan, it has the soul of a BMW, balanced, refined, sharp handling, lots of feedback, capable on the street with all the potential to handle the track and has plenty of soul/personality.

I think of the Lexus as Robin and the M3 as Batman.
