Idle and Stall

Hey Guys,

I have an '02 325i. It idles rough when stopped and yesterday it stalled twice on the DVP. I know this is a common problem but I haven't seen any solutions posted as of yet. I spoke to a few mechanics and they said I should look into the crank and cam shaft sensors.

Has anyone else had this problem? Think the cam/crank sensors will fix the problem?

First thing I would do is take apart the intake system, clean the DISA, clean the ICV and throttle body, while in there inspect the upper and lower intake boots for cracks.

I wouldn't start replacing sensors yet unless you are getting codes for them.

Check the intake boot for splits. Is the check engine light on?

Also check the VANOS. The seals dry out, oil leaks (internally) and the engine goes off cam and runs horribly.
