Exclamation P*ssy Help

Now that I have your attention...by pussy I mean cat....by cat I mean the catalytic converter on my car.

Starting a day or two ago, when my sunroof was open and windows were down....I noticed a weird noise over my stereo....sounded like rocks in a tin can. This noise only happens on deceleration (like taking my foot off the gas not breaking) and around 2-2.5k rpm.

I concluded that it is NOT the heatshield of the car but the actual converter its'self. I know first hand because when I bought the car, the cat was shot on it and it made the same noise untill it got replaced for the emissions test at a cost of $250

Now here is my question:

Since these fu*king things cost so much is there a warranty on them? Mine is a magnaflow Hi-flow cat, dual in single out I believe.. or vice versa, cant remember 100%.
I have the recipts for the work done right infront of me, and it was done October 13th 2005.....this is very frustrating to have this problem after less then one year with it

I really appreciate your input

-Brent

Hey Brent.. well your cat should still be under warranty. The question is.. why is your cat dying so quickly? Replacing it is a temporary solution, but it doesn't fix the problem. Since you've already ruled out it's not the heat shield, have you also ruled out it's not the exhaust hanger?

the exhaust us on there good, nice and solid and doesnt move an inch.

the car had too much oil put in it, and was burnin it for a week or two, would that make a diifference?

you should mention a few things.....you have an m50 e30 right?

What ecu are you using and has the software been changed?
Also what kind of gas are you using? Premium or regular?
If its regular, maybe ur ecu has aftermarket software and needs higher octane fuel, which would cause pinging.

the car will be at the meet regardless on sunday, but this noise is embarassing, i hate it when it sounds anything less then great.
