Found E30 worth it for project?

Hello all.

I found a 1991 E30 318is and wondering if its worth investing time on it.

It needs work but not sure how much work. On the body there is 200K
Engine bay looked very clean no rust but didn't take a picture :roll eyes: I did lift up the carpet as the seats were off and I didn't see any rust through the floor pan. My gf's father has a body shop and I will bring him to see if its minor work and fixable as far as body work/paint goes.

Anyone willing to share there thoughts on if this is worth it? Not expecting a garage queen but as far as I know it needs the following.

-Body work & new paint.
-New front valance and IS lip and rear bumper.
-Spare tire location from underneath is all smashed upwards, no spare tire I would guess?
-Trim around the windows seals?
-New sunroof and seal and he mentioned a cable? I tilted the sunroof upwards and was able to look at the roof and didn't look rusted.
-Doors are clean.
-M42 says it starts to overheat and the yellow light comes on, he mentioned either thermostat or clutch fan.
-The carpet was wet in the rear would that be caused by the missing trim from around the windows?
- New front grille trim
- New black bumper trim

I didn't get a chance to drive it but I can go anytime to check it out again but was hoping to get a better idea from the experts that have E30's.

Thanks!

I would remove those side skirts and fender flares. Around the fenders the edges looked clean and not rusted.

Looks like a $500 parts car! Does it have potential, sure! The only question is what do you want from it, and most importantly how much are you willing to spend on it! Those are very hard questions, and only you have the answer
