Head gasket life span of //M3 engines...? Anyone know?

Is there a certain k.m. range that they generally last?, or is it basically how u treat the car? Thanks.

It's how you treat the car. Even then those head gaskets should last forever. There's US guys on M3forum.com approaching 200k miles on the original gasket. Is that your car in you avatar? What's that year/mileage/int colour? Just curious. Looks nice.

no its not man, mine was a blacked in and out, leather 92 325i, and still is but i just purchased a 97 m3 motor wich im doing a obd1 swap fully conversion on, and the motor has 160k, I just ported and polished the exhaust ports and manifold, and am just curious as to how long b4 I have to take the engine out again, hopefully never, lol. The only thing I know about the engine is the k's and that the card from the salvage yard said RUNS NICE. So basically they can go for a long time, if u don't abuse em...hmmmmm good to know thanks for the info antz marchin.

If you have the motor out, why not do the gasket now?
Copper head gasket + APR studs and you'd be pretty set for anything you'd want to do to that motor in the future.

I wish I had the time, on a very very limited time span for the whole project. Will keep that in mind when everything settle back down.

seriously, if the engine is out of the car, do it now anyway...the kit is only $200 or you can get the gasket alone for $75. You think you dont have time now with the engine out, but it's worse once it's in My sister's e36's head gasket just blew at 272,000km's and it's going to cost her $550 labour (10hrs) + parts to get it replaced.

true, $55/hr is pretty cheap man, all the places round here that would attempt it said 100/hr. Still a pain non the less. Is ur sis' car a 2.5 or 2.8?
