i can't wait for that e30 m3 (at the shop) to be done. (taking out the s14 and slamming the s52 with the blower in it)

Congatulations Sam. I'm glad everything worked out for you. Very clean install in a very clean E30. Excellent combination. Let me know when you wanna take the beasts out for a rip....

Like Jon said, you need OBDI fuel rail and OBDI intake manifold.
I don't know enough about the swap yet to comment with intelligence but the conversion kits I've seen using M50 donor parts require you to swap the valve cover to the OBD1 engine's. Perhaps it has something to do with the size of the coils or leads, I dunno...

By the way, to someone who knows these engines, why do you have to swap to OBD1? Why can't I just install the new computers...??? I might be able to get an S50B32 but those have dual vanos (ie dual OBD2 computers) so an OBD1 swap won't work. Why can't I just shove 2 computers into the glove box, route the wires and be done?

Hey D, I am not too sure about the Euro engines. The reason Sam had to do an OBD1 conversion is because every plug is different. The cam position, crank position, and knock sensors and a bunch more need to be changed to work with the harness and ECU, the ignition is also different from OBD1 - OBD2. You also have to remember about EWS, the ignition and ECU must be reprogrammed to match eachother (only done at BMW dealer and is at least $300) which is why if you dont have EWS, you must get a non EWS ECU (i think silver label 413) in order to avoid these problems, or simply get the EWS disabled on the ECU.

Greekthang had an S50B32 from europe in his car no problems, but at the same time he was already OBD2. I am sure there is a way to convert the 3.2 to OBD1, sorry I couldnt be of any use to that part. Charlie would know however.
