Special Constables , Cops

What are the differences between the two? Can the special constables write tickets?

Yes special constables can write tickets but they are more into the undercover crap and going after major crime and stuff. They dont really bother with traffic violations unless its a major ones.

I think you got that wrong. Special Constables are usually limited in their authority. They do not for example have to go to the ontario police college and receive less training than regular police officers. Usually they're restricted to enforcement only in certain areas such as the TTC and Court duties (prisoner transport, court security and more).

They can still bust your ass just like any other cop if you're in their territory though.

First of all you wouldn't find them at a tim hortons, unless they're off duty and no I don't believe they could do anything. Although I'm sure they might call in regular police officers to assist.

There is two types of special constables, one from the toronto police and one from the ttc,and shit. The ones at the ttc can only arrest you if u do something wrong on ttc property. They cant do anything other than that. They are basically like security guard with just a little bit more authority.

yea you're right, special constables have the same authority as cops but only on their property i.e TTC property... they can write tickets only in relation to their property

The special constable i know about are: GO transit, TTC, U of T, Toronto Police (court officers)

The acronym "cop" actually stands for Constable on Patrol.
