You've probably heard that Ontario is doing a test of higher speed limits (110 km/h) on a couple 400-series highways.
Hopefully this will eventually lead to even higher limits throughout the province.
However, I have it on good authority that the Minister of Transportation (Caroline Mulroney Lapham) is receiving a lot of mail from people opposed to higher limits.
If you support higher speed limits,
please write the Minister at
minister.mto@ontario.ca
A few things to keep in mind:
-please be polite! Regardless of what you think of the government in general, remember that you catch more flies with honey than with the other stuff
-thank the Minister for even considering higher limits.
-tell the Minister it is important that the law reflect the everyday reality of driving in Ontario: most of us are already doing 120 km/h on the 400-series roads
-maybe suggest the government also ban passing on the right and cruising in the left lane
Ask your friends on Facebook and people on other automotive forums with a heavy Ontario presence to write the Minister. Personal emails (rather than form letters or petitions) do make a difference!
