Just got off the phone with a new mechanic. He suspects it's the PCV system. Gonna check it out in a couple days.
Thoughts?

One way to check would be to pull the oil filler cap while car is running, you'll find its very hard and hear the vac. and a sudden change once off. Just a easy way to see if you have a leak.

I see. That would confirm the PCV theory?

It can help identify a issue with the breathing system, yes.

So I went to the new guy and the second he heard it he said, there's no way you're getting rid of that. He threw around a bunch of lingo I don't understand, but seems like it's just the nature of this particular car?
If I have to give up on it, I will. Just as a last thing... I got a better recording of the sound just by revving the engine in park...

Sounds like the alternator is working hard. Not that it's abnormal.....just get a louder exhaust so you don't hear it.

Haha my friend suggested the same thing. Think I'm just gonna give up on it at this point.

Sorry to hear that. Never figured out the problem with mine! Sold it after a few months but it was fun nonetheless. Hope you figure it out.
