M42 Swap = Problems

I swapped an M42 into a Euro 316i. the only wiring i changed was the ECU>motor. I tried getting all the grounds and hots correct. the motor turns over, but doesn't start. I don't think I'm getting spark??? also, I don't think it has anything to do with it but the round srew plug has less pins on the receiving side for the fuse box. all the components were working before the install.

Please. I need help. I've been trying to figure this out for 2 days.

Also, in using all the original wiring i kept the battery up front. maybe the source of the trouble. can anyone show me some pics of the stock 318is battery connections in the front. + and -s
