But the ps3 isn't going to be in HD, plus I hear that due each game is designed to work in one machine only, so no rentals/used games. If true, they can kiss their already-diminished market share goodbye.

Where did you hear that? It´s impossible to make so a disc can only be played in a specific console, and not on your neighbors. It would require you to actually write to the disc, and block out any other machine. And last time I checked, the ps3 is read-only.

And about the ps3 being non-HD ( which I assume that you mean High Definition), thats not true. It can actually show two different HD-outputs at the same time.

I've actually heard that from a few different sources, the discs will have a small writable block so once you put in a game, it's exclusive to that machine... although it'd be suicide if they did in fact do this.

It does sound ridiculous. Why make it so that you can play every ps1 and ps2-game made in your region, and then make it so you can only play those ps3-games you have bought.

If it were Nintendo, it would be a different story. They don´t even like the idea of secondhand-games.

why dont they just make it like this..

a 500 gb removable hard drive

when you want to purchase a game, you go to the sony store.. you plug in your ps3 removable hard drive, and download a game directly to it..

just incase your hard drive dies, you are issued some sort of ID, or sony will have your hard drive model number on storage, so that if anything happens u go back and redownload all the games.
