maybe propr'one doesn't know that Rush has a 850i(M70) not a 850Csi(S70)

That's the guy I was talking about. Did you drive it? I know he went pretty crazy with the suspension - corner balanced GC coilovers etc.

So what, the M5's still sell for around 15-20k. You can easily find the engine for 5. If you find a wrecked 850CSi in Germany it won't be that expensive. The performance of the engine isn't anything to really write home about. I mean if you start looking at over 9 grand then just get a crate LS6. You'll get more performance, reliability and less weight.

I think the e39 M5 (5.0L 400hp/400lbs-trq) is a much better candidate for an e36 than the v12. That engine with its two computers is too high maintenance and has reliability issues. Ask any 850 (not even the CSi) owner.

Exactly. It will literally be like having two 12 year old inline 6'es to worry about. 2 complete engines except a shared crankshaft, 2 computers, 2 AFM's, sensors of all kinds... nightmare!

Lets not compare Germany to North America.
You can find E34 M5 in germany for 5k, doesn't mean tat engines in Canada should sell for 500 bucks.

And 15-20k vs 50k usd for 850csi is a pretty big difference.

S70 - 380hp/405lb/ft
S62 - 394hp/368lb/ft

So performance is on the par with S62.

And no, S62 is not a better candidat for E36.
S73 fits much easier than S62.
V8 is 90degree v
V12 is 60degree V

No I can find S38's in Canada/US for 5k. I guess you could find one in Germany for 500 I don't know. Point is the S70 will not cost you 50k, 10k tops if you look hard enough (most likely from a wreck in Germany).

And a nice S62 will cost more than even an S70 will, just get a crate LS6. Brand new 400/400 engine with a massive aftermarket for huge performance.

Where did I say that S70 cost 50k? I said 850csi goes for 50k.

It's an exaggeration. You're trying to play percentages off the complete car's value and I'm telling you that has f-all to do with anything. Just because some yank wants 50k for his car, doesn't mean you can't find an S70 for 10k elsewhere in the world. All it takes is some resourcefulness and patience.
