Question F36 440ix Gran Coupe: find wheels that will fit over front brakes

I just picked up my 440i xDrive Gran Coupe with 2x M Sport packages. I had looked for winter wheels/tires while I was waiting for delivery, and in fact bought some used wheels 225/50R17.

While those wheels fit well on the back, they don't clear the fancy large front brake calipers. I guess I learned that 17" rims are too small for this car.

My questions:
  1. how can I tell ahead of time if a set of wheels is going to clear the brakes?
  2. are the central hub sizes the same between the front and the back (it looked like the front hubs were bigger)?

Here are the stock sizes for the wheels on the car from the factory:
FRONT: 19x8 225/40 offset 36
REAR: 19x8.5 255/35 offset 35

Thanks for the help

Thumbs up

FYI I bought some used wheels off of this forum and they fit (with about 3mm clearance between caliper and rim).

VMR V710 replica wheels
18x8
offset 35

thanks ac_2007!

You're welcome!
Glad they fit & hopefully they serve you well.

I'm happy my wheels will continue their life on such a beautiful 4-series.

Red face

Here they are on the car with brand new Pirelli Sottozero 3's (I chose non-run-flat).

Not bad at all for winter rims!

Cheers

Looks good! That's a great winter tire from everything I've read and heard.

Now drop it
