what do you guys use ?
brand and grade?

Just stick with the stuff BMW uses. TWS 10W-60.
I would not mind trying Mobil 0W-40 in there either, but aint gonna risk it.

its funny. once every couple weeks, a new thread springs up on engine oil recommendations. one of these should have a sticky, so we don't go through the same stuff every time.

if my memory serves me right, members on here use liqui moly, amsoil, elf, mobil 1 and the BMW's, as noted above. everyone will have their own bias. all the brands mentioned are reputable and offer good quality products.

I believe BMW recommends Castrol only for their engines. Am I wrong ?

I believe dealerships use Castrol. That's what one independent shop told me.
