2008 BMW 550i VANOS Solenoid

Hello, New user here...

Fist time BMW owner. I purchased a 2008 BMW 550I recently, with only 75K KM. I feel a bit of a lag in the cold under low RPMs, and have read that as a preventative maintenance, i should change the Solenoids. I called the dealership, and they quoted 8HRs of Labour, + 4 Solenoids on this car which is $1000 for parts only.

Pls advise your thoughts, should i take them out and clean them? Replace them? Is it a difficult job?

Relatively easy job. Take them out, clean the debris screen, which usually has carbon bits, and reinstall. They do not normally go bad.
