Want to Buy : E38 7-series

Let me know what you may have or have seen up for sale.

I have an E46 325CI slick top super low mileage (94k km) to work into a trade as well, if interested. Mint condition no rust, 5-spd, no sun roof, manual seats, interior like brand new. Lots of M trim installed.

I may be listing my 750IL, 2000 in the spring...I'd be looking at low teens for it.

It's not bad but the price is totally out to lunch. It's nice but not that kind of money nice. The interior condition is good, but definitely no where near excellent as I was expecting from the price point.

I sold my 01 740il Black/Tobacco in 2014 for low teens with similar mileage. People were talking smack about the price on Max but I got my asking price. Just had to wait for the right buyer (1st guy to come see it bought it for how clean it was)

Over the years I've seen people pay some ridiculous money for cars just because they WANT them or they are just that stupid and don't know what they are doing. It does happen.

Sad reality is most of the E38's have been neglected and beaten up. No one has the money, time or interest to take care of them. They fall into the hands of kids for cheap and get driven into the ground by these idiots. It's real funny when that kid then tells me that his POS gangster e38 is a collectors car and worth money. I've yet to see in the last year any E38 for sale worth 5 figures or even close. Nothing. Best car I've seen so far was some old guy that owns a very early one with the non-vanos motor. Some minor issues but the car was maintained and solid. The block was swapped so the Nikasol issue was ticked off. I just can't get around that light grey interior. If it had a black interior, car would likely be in my driveway.

Actually one car that I know is available that is worth a five figure price tag is a 2001 750iL with 52k km on the speedo. I haven't seen it but I'd think that it is likely worth a five figures. Although not the $25K he's asking.

I had three in total, 97 740i in 2007, 95 740i in 2009 and 01 740il in 2012.

Mine were all in pristine shape. Although I paid top dollar to buy all three but did also get top dollar when sold them. They were all maintained and kept clean. With E38s you will some that are ready for scrap and some will go to a collector.

I personally didn't want headaches or keep paying my mechanics mortgages so I chose top examples.

I would also stay away from V12s and get a clean 740. Many earlier sulphur effected blocks were dealer replaced so just check paperwork if any. You can even import one from Japan these days.
