Bluetooth - how to pair?

If I have an '05 325i with ZPP shouldn't I have bluetooth functionality?

Here is what I tried to do -
1) get in the car
2) hold the "person-speaking" button for 5+ seconds
3) insert key and turn to position 1

I heard no beep nor did I see BLUETOOTH PAIRING on the radio display. Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong.

Our province issued a new law whereby we can no longer use cell phones while talking unless paired with a wired or bluetooth headset. So I need to know if the OEM one exists in my car (which it should since it's an 05 model) and how to get it to work.

Thanks to all who chime in.

Do note that I don't have the "pre-wired for bluetooth" sticker in the trunk.

I hear it costs almost a G to have it installed. But what I will do is call up BMWNA and find out if my car was supposed to have it based on the VIN. If it does then maybe I have a case.

If not then I might consider installing the TCU and the other components (DIY). Given the new cell phone ban I'd like to have this on my car.

To answer your first question:

It's an option, I think you can take it to the stealership & they'll charge 250$

To answer your implied question:

Yes I do like roses but my cat tends to knock them over..so don't bother.

You can always purchase an aftermarket product to do the same if the car can't handle it.

The reason why I wanted this feature is because I thought I already had it. Then I thought if it's prewired for it might as well get it. But then I peered up the mic grid and I find out that there is no felt lining i.e. no mic.

Since the pre-wiring sticker is missing then it's going to cost a lot more so it's a waste of money and the DIY to wire it is waayy too time consuming.

get a bluetooth headset, unless you want a aftermarket head unit that has bluetooth in it.

No. I already have a Garmin Nuvi if I want aftermarket. I like the OEM integration with the TCU module.

hmmmmmmmmm... I think if you had it you would certainly know...

I have it (as a standard option?, i dunno...) in my car and it displays right on the audio screen "bluetooth" ... pairing my phone with the car was as easy as turning on the bluetooth on my phone, clicking pair on the car and waiting for a few seconds...

Same province as you e30bim. And to Stephanie - Nope I don't have bluetooth. It wasn't a standard option but rather a dealer installed one. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order it from Tischer.
