I can just imagine if E36 came with a real M engine. It would give 330ci a nice run. This is where E46 M gets in the competition with E93 non M cars. All in all , you want the original M and new body style. This is the bottom line.

Also europrince and steph had issues with their cars and maintanance , so they want new cars. That is understandable. I am just speculating here for their opinions on new cars.
You're intuitive. My 540 had 149k when I bought it at 350k when I got rid of it. I spent a lot maintaining it. Mind you, I drove a lot at the time. Yes, maintenance cost is a large thing for me as a result. Beyond that, not meaning to offend anyone here, I think the e46 body style is long in the tooth. If you pick up an e90/e92, you've got a good 6-8 years before one can say the same about it. With a $600 JB3 chip like Stephanie has, you'll easily keep up with a current M3, never mind the e46. '07 335s will auction at 30k or less within 6 months. That should make them a steal and a no brainer vs. an '03 or so M3. IMHO
