Angry Chrome fenders and rust???

when i bought my e30 it came with the ugly chrome fenders. i would like to remove them. any ideas on how i could go about doing this??? there is a spot of rust on the left fender (refer to image). as far as i can tell the chrome fenders are being held by 3 screws on the bottomw and some type of glue. i would really like to get rid of these things before i clay/polish/wax my car. thanks for your help guys.

hey dave, take out the screws and try using a hairdryer to heat up the glue so it comes off easier. Once the fenders are off, use something like glue gone to remove the left over glue.
