The 09 GTR Launch Control Detuned Fix = faster times?

http://blogs.edmunds.com/straightlin...ol-system.html

Quote:
By now you probably know all about Nissan's fix for the GT-R's "transmission problems". If not, you can read all the details in our feature story on Nissan's nightmare. In short, Nissan decided to reprogram the transmission to deliver softer launches with the VDC off and more aggressive launches with the VDC on. It called the changes "drivability improvements". Its memo to dealers stated, "Standing acceleration capability with VDC ON (VDC-R mode) will improve compared to the original model year 2009 performance while such acceleration with VDC OFF will be moderated." Sounds reasonable enough. Well, now there's an owner who had his GT-R reprogrammed and and he's claiming an even faster time at the track, specifically a run of 11.34 @ 120.85mph. Key word here: "claiming". With no other evidence than the owner's word, it hard to verify the run. We're a little suspicious of the numbers to say the least. The quickest GT-R we ever tested ran an 11.6 @ 120.9mph. Shaving nearly three tenths off that time with a less aggressive launch system seems optimistic at best. We've heard some reasonable arguments from knowledgeable people that say the numbers are plausible, but until we see some more substantive proof, we'll take these numbers with a grain of salt. You should too.

here's the owner and stats:
http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/lofive...hp/t28329.html
R/T .082
60' 1.690
330 4.742
1/8 7.282
mph 95.43
1000 9.479
1/4 11.347
MPH 120.85
The owner DOES have a verified time by the track at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana.

What a freaking beast of a car. If someone was going to spend 100K, there's only one car to buy, and that's the GTR. However, I like the ZR-1 as well.. but the GTR is insane.

have you seen the tranny and how it shifts? it's by far the nicest transmission in the world, and has an unreal quick gearbox. I almost wouldn't want this car in standard.

GTR is not a semi automatic it has two clutches that engage either by computer and shifter location or with the Manual Operation of the paddles.
It has a 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with three driver-selectable modes: Normal (for maximum smoothness and efficiency), Snow (for gentler starting and shifting on slippery surfaces), and R mode (for maximum performance with fastest shifts).

I've seen A E90 4 door silver M3 , and the new black Skyline RACE!!!!!

Islington+Steeles intersection, Bmw Chirped had em for about a second then the GTR just took off like a bat out of hell.

i just wished i didnt have my radio on so i could have heard that music. instead of shitty Virgin.

I was just in shock when i saw the skyline... then the bimmer took off quick and thats when i saw the M3 fender.

Hands down best race I saw in my life. even if both the owners (younger then 30 belive it or not) didnt really push it that hard.

i think its not as beautiful as the R34, but its still to me anyways, a beautiful car. I think it looks like a futuristic car, the best of the advancing technology we have from the drivetrain and AWD system to the engine to the electronics inside. The car is the complete package.

I have seen a few and got a chance to sit in one a while back. Its not a good looking car IMO, and the interior is pretty bad too I thought.
If the price was right, I would still consider one though just for the performance, but luckily for me, I think they are way too much money.

but the technological options inside and the pure performance it offers... its a 911Turbo for like one third the price. And I thought the interior wasn't bad at all! its way better than the ZR-1 which is 30k more than the GTR.
