I didnt understand how you said we work out a deal then leave a deposit then you can test drive the car, i would not give a deposit if you tell me that. Maybe if the car felt right on the road then we would leave a deposit.
i would have understood if you drove it for us even.

Nothing personal but we went to see a higher km m3, felt nice, but kms were too high.
My iphone broke the next day so i havent got back to you.
If he wants to come see the car this weekend if we have time now i will call you.
List your number again
Thanks

ps saw the car today on WC and dundas. (Y) looked good
+1 on this
I saw this car 2 months ago but wasn't allowed to test drive, even though I had cash in hand. Ended up buying another one a week later..

GLWS but you drive potential buyers away by refusing test drives.

Umm actually I never let you drive it because you low balled my offer at the time. And I took you for a drive to show you everything was fine and said you can drive it if we agreed on the price. Why would I let 10+ ppl drive a car if half can't even afford it? Not to mention half those ppl think they can drive stick properly. I wouldn't want to buy a car that everybody beat on beforehand. Get my drift?

Btw you were actually the only person that I didn't let drive it. And you never called back so I didn't take you seriously.

^^ +1 on that!

I just purchased an M5, and the seller said he had one guy stall the car - that was enough to not let anyone test drive it.

Stick to your word, and dont give in. If lowballers want to dream and continue to dream, I woul djust suggest Kijiji and just put your number up there. Also, just answer phone calls as texts, to me, would be those pesky low ballers.

just my 0.04

Yes I would also agree not to let anyone and everyone drive the car.

Seller should be willing to demonstrate the car for the potential buyer, and after a deposit is left the seller may let the buyer drive the car.

I offered what I thought was fair at the time, which was actually higher than your asking price now so not too sure what you mean by "low balling". And frankly, considering that I hadn't even driven the car it was pretty generous, who knows, if I actually got to drive it maybe I would have offered even more. You can't expect people to make you a proper offer without letting them drive and 'feel' the car. Also, I ended up buying one a few days later so that shows my intentions of coming to see the car very clearly.

Either way I'm not here to argue, just friendly advice from perspective of a (former) potential buyer. And to freshen your memory, you asked me to leave a deposit in order to test drive, and judging by the above post it seems like I wasn't the only one. I have bought more than 10 cars in the past years and had never been asked to leave a deposit before test driving a car, that's just not normal.

I do understand the frustration build-up by getting too many low-baller and tire-kickers, especially with a car like this. But sometimes you have to view things from point of view of potential buyers. Anyhow, back to thread and good luck with sale/

When I was selling my E34 M5 and my RR there were no test drives allowed. I would gladly take you for a drive and do what you asked, but unless there was $$$ in my pocket, you weren't getting the keys in your hand. I don't need people joy riding or killing my car/clutch/synchros.

+1 I had an 04 RR and many other street bikes and dirt bikes.. Too many dreamers showed up to ride the bike with their M1... right. funny thing was the vast majority showed up at night.. obviously did not know the rules/restrictions to the M1.

Selling a bike is the same with selling a 5speed vehicle to me in the fact that the deposit should be received then take them for a drive. I would be devastate watching someone stall a car, let alone drop a bike for that matter.

Ppl make such a fuss. It's not a $3k civic. If your really interested you wouldn't care. I looked at this car twice when I was buying two years ago. First time I never drove it. Then second time I showed up with a cheque for $27k! I drove it and it checked out so I handed over the cheque.

Same went for when I bought and sold my 04 R6.

its a tough situation for sure.

Id have to feel out each person(no homo) and would make the call for a test drive for each case. I wouldnt flat out deny it.

its not a gtr or ferrari here

To the OP, I feel your pain. When I was selling my M3 all I got were supreme low ballers and wannabe test pilots who wanted to test drive my car but had no intentions of buying it. I got fed up with this and simply traded it in. If I did not have my vert, I would grab yours in a heartbeat as its a damn good price.

I'm with Arash, sometimes you have to just feel have a feeling for the person. I don't see anything wrong in test driving a car. I bought s2000 without test driving it and i do regret it. The owner knew all bad things about and drove it that way so i didn't hear them.
However, on my way home i heard all of them. It was too late. Do you see my point?

P.S good luck with the sale. Love the car, want to trade for my e36 vert converted to m3 that was for sale here recently?
