Nissan 370z VS BMW z4 M coupe...

Instead of threadjacking a for sale thread, V Bimmer please explain to me why you think I was so out to lunch comparing the two. Similar stance, trunk space(if you can call it that), Horsepower, etc. Yes the reviews say the 370 is a bit heavy. I haven't driven a z4 coupe, it's probably a lot more agile but for someone who doesn't take a car to a track, who really cares when I'm going from stop light to stop light in the city.

"how could you even think about it? torn between 370z? "

In my opinion the interior of the 370 is 10X nicer. I find the dash on the Z4 extremely boring. Navigation in the 370 is awesome, unfortunatly it seems 9 out of 10 of them weren't equipped with it so finding one with the upgraded rims and navi in the colour of my preference has proven to be quite challenging. I know this is a bmw forum and I will probably always have at least one in my garage, but why the preference over the Nissan

The S54 - as you should know, assuming you still have your M3 - is probably leaps and bounds more engaging than the Z's motor. Now imagine it in a lighter chassis, that's gotta equate to loads of fun IMO.

Looks are subjective, but IMO the 370 is downright atrocious with those weird angled lights and cuts. The Z4M is no supermodel either, but it is definitely more appealing to my eyes.

This is a rather strange point. If in your eyes it all boils down to stop light to stop light, then why on earth are you even looking at 300+ HP two seat roadsters? A Miata would probably satisfy your needs then. :S

Yes the M3 won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I realize it's a much free'er revving engine, I just don't see how I was so far out in left field comparing the two cars. Thought someone could enlighten me where the z4 is so much better.

That is also a broad statement...half the people in Porsches don't "need" a Porsche to drive to work and back. Fortunately for us we live in Canada, where practicality doesn't play a dramatic role in the cars some of us choose to buy. I agree it's not much more than 2 seats and a big motor, but I spend a lot of time driving so may as well make it an enjoyable part of my day. Love the looks of the Z, but have contemplated the Z4 too. Not much more to it than that.

The only way to find out for yourself would be to drive both and compare. At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference, and driving each will show you what's the better choice for you.

the 370z would walk all over a z4m...

but anyways, they are in the same segment.

Mick... in order for your post to be credible, you have to end it with "Bro"

I've driven both and would say they're definitely legit competitors. They share a lot of similarilities in terms of control feel, power, absolutely useless practicality, and even philosophy (long-hood 2 seaters based on small luxury sedans (E46/G37, respectively)).

In some ways I prefer the 370Z actually, even as a die hard BMW and S54 fan. It's a great car that needs to be driven before judged.

That was never in question, I wasn't looking for opinions as to what car suits my needs or preference, I started this thread to find out why I was considered an idiot by v bimmer, and wanted to hear why the z4 was far superior to the 370.

Thank you mystikal for the support. I agree on all points. 370 it is!

Ah. Well perhaps that would've been better suited to a PM.

Good luck on the search for the 370Z, I'm sure it'll be a fun ride as you can't go wrong with either.
