how is the Xi ?

So i will be moving soon, taking a new job, which in the very near future (about a year and a half) ill be able to afford a newer bmw then my current. I love the e46 body style. And i love all wheel drive, But ive heard a few people say the bmw awd is shat. Is this true? And if so what makes it shat. Either way im leaning towards a 330 but i like the xi. So give me some input anyone, let me know from experience or through a friend what the deal is.

I love the e46 also I bought one last year a 330I I work for a bmw dealer and i have driven a lot of bmws the e46 xi models are nice the drive fine there is a bit of a differance in the awd vs the rear drive the xi will use a bit more fuel and the ride hight is a bit higher my advice would be go drive the e46 xi and rear drive models and see for yourself which one you like better if you drive in an area where you have lots of snow in the winter mouths it might be worth geting the xi but if don't then save the money and get a rear wheel drive and get a good set of snow tires.
Good luck I hope you find a nice 330I or xi

Commas, periods, commas, periods!

Anyways, Xi's aren't shitty at all. I've driven the 3 and 5 xi's in heavy snow and if you add winter tires on top of it then your set! If you can find something with the newest xDrive system in it you won't be disappointed.

I havent driving a 330i or ci but let me tell you. When I was looking to buy a new car I tested the WRX and had all my paperwork done just had to wait to clear everything with the bank. Then I see this 330xi for sale and I went to take it for a test drive and OMG what a difference ... stopped paperwork for WRX .. said no thanks .. bought the 330xi the next day. I dont like the ride height but thats about it.

yeah i noticed that in pictures that the ride height looked a bit high. I wasnt sure if that was just angel of the pics, guess not.

But yes ill be moving farther up north ( i live in pennsylvania now, ill be moving to conneticut soon) and dealing with more snow then i already do. But on the bright side i wont be driving much since ill live right next to work.

But the way i see it, bmw.... awd.....

thanks for the info guys. When the time comes ill do as suggested and drive them both and decide then.

you could prolly drop the XI a bit, look into it man. even like a 3/4 inch drop would be cool, nice stiff springs. winter racer

We owned a 2001 325xi up until a month or so ago....Great vehicle, ride height is oviously a little higher then I....Car likes to understeer like a bitch, most likely had to do with the all seasons that were on it. Other then that....Nothing is more fun then a AWD car in the snow....so fun to just flick off the DSC and let'er rip.
