UGH! My car doesn't feel the same after getting it back. Question about final drive!?

My 330ci ZHP (M performance package) comes with a final drive ratio of 3.07:1 (instead of 2.91:1 of stock 330i/330ci/330cic).

The dealer changed my diff assymbly/final drive because of a bad noise I noticed after letting off the throttle at any speed.

The noise seems to be gone now, but the car feels slower and takes longer to respond. Like I have to bring the rpm's higher before it wants to pull hard. I just feels less responsive for some odd reason.

I think they replaced the final drive with the wrong ratio! I'm guessing they put in the normal 330ci 2.91:1 ratio instead of the correct 3.07:1.

Do you think this could be the cause?

Knowing dealer mechanics, who are only half-assed capable of performing only the most mundane tasks using typical components, I would be willing to bet that your guess is correct. Check your invoice first, make sure the p/n is for a 3.07. If that's fine, check under the car like Jeremy suggested.

you can also physically check my rotating the output flanges one revolution and seeing if the input shaft rotates more then 3 full revolutions (with the transmission in neutral)

you would have to be pretty bang on the money to notice from 2:91 to 3:07's

theres not much difference there but hey, sounds like the case!

awesome! thanks guys! So when I bring it to RMP Rocco and I can put it on the hoist while doing my inspection and I can look for the metal stamp?

do you think its something I can ask the service manager I was dealing with?

by the way... Most problems they said they fixed, still are occuring. some worse than before

dropped my 1/4 time by .2 of a second, so really not a big difference
