AHH! I Angered the car Gods! and was Smited!

ever have a story SO embarassing that you just felt compelled to share?

ok - a few weekends ago, my childhood best friend came into town for a visit, and during a drive around town, we got to talking. When we were growing up, we always used to make bets - as friends do. Talking about my car (first Bimmer) and how the new exhaust is way too loud - then discussed M cars vs. standard 3 series cars when we saw a brand new dark silver M3 on the 417 (VERY round!), then got onto the discussion I brought up when I joined Max, regarding badging. So - the gauntlet was laid - $100 to "M up" the 328 for 1 month - and attend at least one cruise...WITH pictures.

My clauses were that he supplied the badges and that if anyone asked, I could admit that it's a 328 and tell people about the bet - Shawn agreed.

this past Tuesday morning the package showed up - trunk badge, grill badge and striping decals. They went on, pics were emailed and the bet was on.

Today - while driving to the garage to get the new Summer shoes on, the front grill FELL OFF - went under the car, and the two screws attaching the M plate to the grill went right into my tire, and embedded my busted grill into the driver's side rear tire!

So essentially the stupid plate killed my own tire! On the way to get new tires! Just for a stupid $100!

Lesson learned - DON'T rebagde your car!

well, less "carnage", more flat tire. I pulled into a parking lot, changed to the full-size spare, and made the way to get the Summers installed. BUT the tire is done, and can't be repaired, so...

well this was his way of 'getting me' because I refused to put R/T badging on my Challenger - it was an R/T clone, but not factory, so this was his second chance (that last one cost me $50 - the latest round is adjusted for inflation) and I was hesitant but thought what the hell - and now I know I chose poorly.
