odd problem, not really sure

having a kinda strange problem and i cant really figure it out, i wanna see what u guys think it might be:

first of all, the way the car runs is somewhat inconsistent, on some days i get a super smooth ride, some days i get a rough ride... what i mean is the following:

starting in first - sometimes it starts really smooth, but more often than not its very shaky, the whole car vibrates really hard... i thought it might be that i let go of the clutch too early, but i have tried it with revving it around 2000 and releasing the clutch slowly and same idea happens, and ive tried letting go of it really slowly and gassing it smoothly and same thing.. then again sometimes it goes perfectly smooth - and i dont normally change anything in my driving habits, im pretty consistent, so i have reason to believe its something with the car

next, shifting gears - sometimes the shifter just slides smoothly into second, and sometimes i really have to jam it in...now i thought that this might relate to what rpm im changing gears at, but it happens at low rpms as well as high

so does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? when i first got the car and had it inspected by my dad's mechanic, he said the tranny was really weak and was likely to go soon...so could these be symptoms of a dying transmision? or maybe the diff? .. maybe clutch? (thought i believe that was changed fairly recently)

one more thing to add, i tried finding some sort of pattern, and here's the weird thing: any time i add gas to the car (whether im empty and filling up to the top, empty and filling it a bit, or just topping it off) the car gives me a smooth ride until i turn it off, and then when i start it its a gamble again... how weird is that? so it has nothing to do with the gas level, but maybe it recallibrates something when it senses a higher gas level?

anyways if anyone has any ideas, or similar problems, id be glad to hear some opinions

Thanks,
Seb

Try replacing the bushings in your shifter for smoother shifting,
